Manteo

Manteo is the historic site of Fort Raleigh and its infamous “lost colony”. If you visit Fort Raleigh today, you can explore the free museum that does its best to answer what happened to the 118 vanished colonists in 1590, or take in the Tony award winning and longest running outdoor drama “The Lost Colony”.

Across the road you’ll find the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island, and Manteo’s downtown Waterfront Shops is one of the best places to dine and shop.
